My decision to live my life alcohol free wasn't the result of a "rock bottom" event. It was the result of a nagging self awareness I could no longer ignore. Simply put, I was uncomfortable with the amount of time I spent thinking about alcohol. I didn't want to continue questioning whether that one, two, or three glasses of wine in the evening was serving me in a positive way.
Most would have viewed my drinking as "normal" and non-problematic, but I felt differently. I didn't like how much I was looking forward to that glass of wine at the end of a stressful day. I hated that I made promises to myself that I wouldn't drink tonight, or during the week, only to break those promises over and over again.
I'm very aware of the devastating effects of alcohol, having witnessed it destroy numerous lives within my family. So why was I still choosing to ingest this substance? The truth is I thought it was benefiting me. I thought it helped me relax, relieved my anxiety, and made a night out with friends even more fun! I now know that just isn't true!
In December 2021, while preparing to do a dry January (to prove that I could), I stumbled upon Annie Grace's, This Naked Mind. I had no idea how much it would change my way of thinking, which in turn has changed my life. I want everyone to know how great life can be without alcohol. I've never been as happy and confident in my own skin as I am today.
Having experienced this profound mind shift, I decided to follow my heart and become a Certified This Naked Mind Coach. I'm excited and honored to have the opportunity to share my knowledge with others.
My mission is to reach "gray area" drinkers (those who consider their drinking to be somewhere between "acceptable" and "worrisome"), which is how I saw myself. There is no reason to wait until your drinking becomes totally out of control, or until you experience a "rock bottom" event. You can just decide that you want to become a non-drinker because it's a healthy choice. No explanation necessary!
We all have the ability to change our thoughts and beliefs around alcohol. Once you experience this, you will discover that the possibilities are endless.
My goal is to help you re-imagine your life. If you're questioning your relationship with alcohol I can help you create a life where alcohol becomes small and irrelevant, but it doesn't end there. Committing to a healthier lifestyle is just that – a commitment, but I will be right by your side. I will provide you with accountability, understanding and support. You may get a few days, weeks, months alcohol free under your belt and then you may choose to have a drink. That's ok because you will gain valuable information from that drink. We're going to look at that as a learning experience and NOT as a failure! You won't be starting over, you'll continue moving forward!
